Conference at Lille's Catholic University organised by COMECE with Jacques Delors and Jean-Luc Dehaene

Brussels, 20/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Conference of Bishops' Conferences of the Europe Community (COMECE) is organising a conference in Lille on 7 March in collaboration with the Catholic University of Lille and Lille Diocese as a contribution to the debate on the future of Europe, on the topic of the challenges facing a united Europe. The lecture will be opened by Gérard Defois, Archbishop of Lille, Professor Gaston Vandendelaere, Rector of the Catholic University of Lille, and Martine Aubry, the city's mayor. The former President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, and the vice-chair of the Convention on the future of Europe, Jean-Luc Dehaene will also participate. The debates will be chaired by Thérèse Lebrun, vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Lille, and Anne Anderson, Ireland's Permanent Representative to the EU. The conference will be drawn to a close by COMECE President, Josef Homeyer. (COMECE, 42 rue Stévin, 1000 Brussels.)
