20/02/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the Parliamentary Association for Euro-Arab Co-operation (PAEAC) welcomed the constitutional reforms announced by the Emir of Bahrain to transform Bahrain into a constitutional monarchy, also giving women the right to vote and stand for elections. Foreigners will also have the right to vote. The PAEAC "hopes that this bold move of Bahrain will give momentum to other reforms towards democratisation in the Gulf region".
