18/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Friday, the European Commission condemned the attacks made against three media personalities. The Basque separatist organisation, ETA, had on Thursday sent packages stuffed with explosives to the vice-president of the Grupo Correo, Enrique Ibarra, to the director of the national Spanish radio in the Basque Country, Santago Silván, and to the Antena 3 delegate in the region, Marisa Guerrero. The operation was thwarted by the autonomous Basque police. Commission spokesman Johnathan Fall said "we strongly condemn this attack against the freedom of the media".
