03/01/2002 (Agence Europe) - In the run-up to the Barcelona Summit, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise is organising a conference in Brussels on 30 January entitled "From Lisbon to Barcelona - Towards a more competitive Europe. Debating the conclusions of the 2001 report on European competitiveness". Director-General Fabio Colasanti will launch the conference, which will look at recent underperfomrance in European productivity. Other participants include Professor Reinhilde Veugelers (Université catholique de Louvain) and MEP Glyn Ford, who will discuss innovation and competitiveness; and Professor Karl Aiginger (OMPI, Vienna) and Steve Davies (University of East Anglia) on productivity and competitiveness.
