Martelli joins Group - Contacts with Italian Radicals - Full EPP support for candidacy of Cox

Strasbourg, 13/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - The leader of the liberal and democratic group, Pat Cox announced Wednesday in Strasbourg that Claudio Martelli (Socialisti Democratici Italiani) has become a member. What is the affinity between the ex vice president of the Italian Socialist Party and the Liberals? Replying to this question Cox said that Martelli had supported the content and principles of the Stuttgart Declaration, which had been the mark of the group's foundation.
