Brussels, 12/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Party of European Socialists, chaired by British MP Robin Cook, is holding its usual Pre-European Council Summit, this time in Brussels (at the Hôtel de Ville) on Thursday. Apart from heads of state and national heads of government (including Elio di Rupo and Patrick Janssens from Belgium), the Summit will be attended by ministers, the President of the Socialist Group at the European Parliament, Enrique Baron (Spain), the Socialist candidate for the Presidency of the EP, David Martin (UK), the High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana and the ETUC General Secretary, Emilio Gabaglio. The discussions will focus on employment and growth policies, the Socialists' political perspectives for the future of Europe and the upcoming Convention on the institutional reform of the European Union.
