22/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The American Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Christina Rocca met members of the EU Political and Security Committee (COPS) in Brussels on Friday to have an exchange of views on the future of Afghanistan, says a press release from the United States' mission to the EU. Ms. Rocca also briefed the Europeans of the contents of Secretary of State Colin Powell's discussions in Pakistan and India last week. The diplomat, moreover, met Chris Patten, European Commissioner for External Relations and collaborators of the High Representative for Cfsp, Javier Solana. "The EU has an important role to play in that coalition", set up by the United States in its anti-terrorism campaign, Declared Ms. Rocca to COPS ambassadors.
