Brussels, 16/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - On 26 October, ECAS is organising a conference on the European Commission's July 2001 White Paper on European governance entitled "3 C's for European Governance - Making Government more Accountable and Transparent, NGOs as Political Actors. The three C's to be discussed at the conference are C1 - Consultation; C2 - Communication; and C3 Complaints; and the role of the Commission as guardian of the Treaty. ECAS, headed by Tony Venables, held an earlier conference on this subject on 21 March.
The conference will be opened in the presence of the Belgian Minister for Consumer Protection, the Environment and Public Health, Magda Aelvoet, representing the Presidency of the Council, while Jérôme Vignon, who heads the Commission's Governance Team, will draw the conference to a close.
