Tax on eastern cereals possibly axed

Brussels, 12/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Cereals Management Committee was unable to decide on the planned abolition of the ten euro per tonne import tax for cereals coming from the Mediterranean Basin, the Black Sea and the Baltic (also see EUROPE of 6 October, p.15). The European Commission will whence adopt this decision entry into force of which is scheduled for 9 November.
