Brussels, 12/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - German Green MEP (elected in France) Daniel Cohn-Bendit, will be standing to take over from Belgian Paul Lannoye (who has decided not to stand again in order to spend more time on development/food/environment issues) as Co-President of the Greens/European Free Alliance group. No other candidates have been put forward to date and the Finnish Co-President, Heidi Hautala, and the Belgian Co-President for the regionalists, Nelly Maes, may be re-elected against the background of a mid-term review of the EP structures. No candidates have yet put themselves forward for the Presidency of the European Parliament. German MEP Ikla Schröder has left the Green group to join the European United Left.
