10/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - In a press release, the European CDU member Georg Jarzembowski approved the European Commission's proposal (see other article) concerning State aid to airline companies suffering the consequences of the attacks of 11 September, but, he stipulates, on condition that this aid compensates for "verifiable" losses due to the closure of the American air space for four days, and be granted "uniformly, to all European airline companies". The latter, he acknowledges, must also enjoy exceptional measures regarding insurance: they are not in a position to bear alone all the increase in costs linked to security, and must not be "abandoned", he said.
