09/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The local authority associations of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Saxony are organising a conference in Brussels on 11 October on the role of local authorities in the European social model of the future. Representatives of the three German local authority associations, along with European Commission delegates and MEPs will be taking part in the debates. The Committee of the Regions, the European Parliament and the new European office of the South-West of England region are preparing a conference in Brussels on 16 October on Europe of the Regions and Citizens' Europe. The President of the Committee of the Regions, Jos Chabert, MEP Graham Watson and President Prodi's advisor on governance, Jérôme Vignon, have been invited to the conference.
