The VALENTIA consortium, which includes the Irish magnate Anthony O'Reilly and US investor George Soros, has announced that it now controls more than 80% of EIRCOM, and therefore is buying EIRCOM. Under Irish law, a purchaser must control 80% of a company in order to buy it. See IE of 4 July.
