France's construction and public works company VINCI had just taken over the US's WORLDWIDE FLIGHT SERVICES (WFS), thereby becoming one of the world's three largest airport services companies. The deal assessed the company's value as $295 million (EUR 328 mil), $90 million of this being the cost of buying all WFS' shares, the remainder being the company's debt.
