31/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Central Bank adopted a decision on the denominations, specifications, reproduction, exchange and withdrawal of seven euro banknotes. This new decision, which replaces that of 1998, mainly concerns the conditions for reproduction of the notes. Whereas two-side reproductions were permitted in the past, the revised rules allow only one-sided reproductions to be made (photograph, drawing, picture or film), on condition that the length and width represent more than 125% of the original or less than 75%. These new rules must be implemented from 31 August (date when the OJ appears), "but reproductions produced before that date will not be affected", states the ECB in a press release.
