30/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Orthodox Church of Greece has managed to gather over three million signature from Greeks (out of a total population of 11 million) rejecting the abolition of reference to religion on identity cards, as decided by the government. EUROPE recalls that this reference was regarded as discriminatory by the European Court of Human Rights and condemned by the European Parliament on numerous occasions.
