The Consob, Italian stock market authority, gave its assent to the two planned takeovers on MONTEDISON and its subsidiary EDISON, but on condition of a green light from the European Commission, which must examin whether this operation will not create a monopoly situation in Europe… As a reminder FIAT associated with EDF via that company ITALENERGIA (see EI of 2&3 July) had launched last 2 July a takeover for the Italian company and its subsidiary.
