19/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report drawn up by Portugese Socialist Helena Torres Marques, the European Parliament approved, with a few technical changes, the amendment to the 1997 VAT directive in order to simplify it, and to modernise and harmonise the conditions imposed for billing for value added tax.
