The aims of the CAP, the price to be paid for food quality, the allocation of public money to promoting quality production, good farming practices, food safety, public health, safeguarding and improving food quality in the prospect of enlargement, and international trade are among the issues that participants will be discussing. The hearing will be opened by Friedrich-Wilhelm Graefe zu Baringdorf (Greens, Germany), Chair of the EP Committee on Agriculture, and Caroline Jackson (British Conservative), Chair of the Committee on the Environment. Commissioners David Byrne (Health/Consumers) and Franz Fischler (Agriculture) will each speak on their relevant areas.
