31/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - The EU Council of Ministers adopted on Monday without debate a Decision on the financial participation of the EU in certain monitoring, control and surveillance of fisheries. Member States are responsible for carrying out such controls but the Commission will contribute EUR 105 million over the 20001/2003 period. The greatest part of the expenditure has been allocated to intervention at sea.
