29/05/2001 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, industrial production in the Euro-zone was down 0.2% in March on February, compared with a 0.5% increase in February on January. Production in the European Union (EU15) decreased by 0.1% in March after a gain of 0.4% in February compared with January. Annually, the output rose 3.0% in the Euro-zone and 2.6% in the EU15 compared with March 2000. Compared to March 2000, the highest increases were recorded in Finland, Denmark, Portugal and Belgium (from 5.7% to 7%). Only Spain (-1.6%) and the United Kingdom (-0.8%) registered a fall in industrial output on an annual basis.
