ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

DEUTSCHE TELEKOM has made a last minute bid for the Polish mobile phone operator PTC, heart of the activities of the Polish operator ELEKTRIM, which it is in a fight for with France's VIVENDI. The plan provides for the German group fully subscribing to a reserved capital increase involving a block of new shares representing 3.45% of PTC's capital, for $400 million. DEUTSCHE TELEKOM, which has a direct 45% stake in PTC, could take control of the company according to the envisaged plan.
