ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) pharmaceuticals

The merger between the British pharmaceutical company SHIRE PHARMACEUTICALS and the Canadian BIOCHEM PHARMA got the go ahead from the Canadian Ministry for Industry. The created entity will have a turnover of USD 587 million on the basis of 1999 results and a market capitalisation of USD 8.5 billion.
