On Thursday, BRITISH TELECOM (BT), the incumbent British operator, announced its division into two companies. The first, BT WIRELESS, will regroup its mobile telephone activities presently scattered within BT CELLNET (mobile telephones), its European subsidiaries VIAG INTERKOM (Germany), TELFORT (Netherlands), ESAT DIGIFONE (Ireland) and MANX (Isle of Man), as well as the portal INTERNET GENIE.
