Commission clears Liberty Media's purchase of controlling stake in UnitedGlobalCommunications

Brussels, 25/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the American firm Liberty Media International Inc, specialised in the media, entertainment and technology sectors, to purchase a majority stake in UnitedGlobalCommunications Inc (United) and, from that, in United Pan-Europe Communications (UPC), a Dutch cable-distribution firm, subsidiary of the latter.
