Brussels, 17/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - Last Thursday, the Swedish Presidency published the following declaration on the attack against KFOR personnel in Kosovo which caused the death of a Russian soldier: "The Presidency of the EU condemns in the strongest terms the vicious attack against international peacekeepers on the administrative boundary between Serbia and Kosovo on Wednesday 11 April. The Presidency deeply regrets the loss of life of one Russian soldier who fell victim to terrorist activities. The Presidency expects relevant authorities to take immediate action in order to apprehend and punish those responsible for this cowardly act of violence".
NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, passed on his condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov, telling him that he considered an attack against a KFOR soldier "as an attack against all of us".
