GENERAL NEWS / (eu) energy

The German energy group E.ON launched a friendly take-over bid for the British energy group POWERGEN at 765 Pence per share, valuing the company at EUR 15.3 billion (including the debt take-over). This acquisition will make E.ON the world's second largest in energy, behind the French EDF, with a volume of electricity production of 323 billion kilowatt-hours and 30 millions electricity and gas customers.
