Brussels, 09/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has granted clearance to the Singapore-based electronics company Flextronics International Ltd to acquire the whole of the mobile handset manufacturing and distribution business of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Ericsson) (Sweden). The Commission ruled that there are a number of very strong suppliers of electronic manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers both worldwide and on the European level and this, together with the fact that many electronics manufacturers are sophisticated buyers with considerable buying power (Nokia, Motorola, Philips, etc) precludes the possibility of Flextronics acquiring a dominant position in the market.
