French MEPs rise up against methods used by Marks & Spencer to announce closure of French stores

Brussels, 05/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The French MEPs from the EPP-ED group, whose delegation is chaired by Margie Sudre and includes the UDF, RPR and DL members, expressed this Wednesday 4 April in Strasbourg their strong disapproval for the method used by the British company Marks & Spencer to announce, in a sudden and brutal manner, the closure of its establishments in France, without prior consultation with the 1,700 employees concerned by this measure.
