ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) chemicals

America's second largest chemicals group DOW CHEMICAL has announced the purchase of the agri-chemicals subsidiary of its compatriot RHOM AND HAAS ($531 million turnover in 2000) for some $1 billion. The operation will go through DOW AGROSCIENCES LLC, subsidiary of DOW CHEMICAL. With this acquisition, DOW AGROSCIENCES' turnover should be in the order of $3 bn annually.
