19/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the EP approved the Council's common position on the directive concerning the interoperability of the conventional trans-European rail system. The rapporteur, French Socialist Gilles Savary, noted that the Council's common position covers 33 amendments adopted at first reading. He hoped that the adoption of the directive would make it possible to give impetus to rail transport and guarantee the quality of jobs and safety in this sector. (See summary...
