Brussels, 07/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European commission adopted the emergency measures aimed at the recovery of North Sea cod stocks. In compliance with the agreement reached with Norway (see EUROPE of 26 January, p.14), these measures comprise, notably, the ban on all fishing activities that could lead to the catch of cod, so as to enable the maximum number of adult cod to spawn between mid-February and 30 April 2001.
