ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) mergers and acquisitions

- Japan: The number of mergers and acquisition involving Japanese companies rose 40.8% in 2000 compared to the previous year, reaching a record level. According to the brokerage house NOMURA SECURITIES, 1,768 Japanese companies where involved in merger-acquisition operations in 2000, setting a new record for the third year in a row.
