US airline AMR - AMERICAN AIRLINES has officially announced the acquisition of TWO - TRANS WORLD AIRLINES and certain US AIRWAYS assets. AMR will pay $500 million for almost all TWA assets including 190 aircraft and time slots, as well as the 800 daily TWO connections. Furthermore, it will disburse $1.2 billion for US AIRWAYS. Finally, the American company will acquire 49% of DC AIR for the sum of $82 million. See EI of 10 January.
