Brussels, 11/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The International Football Federation (FIFA) drew-up a revised document on the rules applicable to football player transfers. For the main, FIFA confirms its previous position (see EUROPE of 30 December, p5), but with a few adjustments to take into account the observations formulated both by other sporting organisations concerned (UEFA, regrouping the European Federations, and the FIFPRO, representing the players) as by the Commission services. The aim, we now, is to define rules that are considered in Brussels as being compatible with Community law. The revised document will be passed, on Wednesday, to UEFA and the FIFPRO, this Thursday to the European Commission.
FIFA also called for the postponing of the technical meeting with the Commission services, which was scheduled for this Friday 12 January. It should take place during the week of the 22 to 26 January.
