04/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The agreement on opening up agricultural trade with Tunisia came into force on 1 January 2001. EUROPE reminds readers that this agreement requires Tunisia to make considerable efforts in terms of oilseeds and cereals (see our newsletter of 23 November, p. 11). For its part, the EU has accepted an increase in duty-free imports of Tunisian olive oil to 56 000 tonnes this year. This will rise by 1 500 tonnes a year from now until 2005.
