Brussels, 07/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - In the framework of the Meda Programme, the European Commission has approved a scholarship programme for a total of 10 million euro for Turkey. This "Jean Monnet" scholarship programme will allow young Turkish graduates, as well as employees in the private sector and public administration to undertake a year of post-graduate university studies in the EU, in several sectors relating to Turkey's accession strategy. The aim of the programme is to strengthen ties between young Turkish and EU citizens. This new "Jean Monnet" programme should benefit some 400 graduates over a five-year period.
