ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) rail

DB - DEUTSCHE BAHN is to create a joint-venture between DB CARGO, its "freight" division, and SCHENKER, one of its former subsidiaries taken over by the German logistics group STINNES. Called RAILOG, the two partners will have an equal share in the company which will specialise in multi-modal transport. From its launch in the first quarter of 2001, it will have a turnover of 200 million euro and employ 150 people.
