ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) retailing

The Chilean firm SANTA ISABEL (annual turnover of some 680 million euro, with 62 shops), joint-venture between the Dutch AHOLD and DISCO, has announced the purchase of the supermarket chain AGAS (total turnover of 100 million euro, with 17 shops) for an undisclosed amount. With this acquisition, AHOLD's total turnover in Latin America will amount to 3.6 bn euro.
