09/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission spokesperson indicated that the examination of the merger between the French Canal Plus and Vivendi and the Canadian Seagram aimed at forming a new world leader in multimedia, is suspended. This interruption is linked to the incomplete nature of the notification. The Commission should, in principal, decide before 12 August whether to authorise the merger to open an in-depth four month investigation.
