ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) insurance

The banking group FORTIS has, through its American subsidiary FORTIS INC, signed an agreement for the purchase of AMERICAN MEMORIAL LIFEW INSURANCE COMPANY, a "funeral cost" insurance company located in South Dakota. The transaction amounts to $220 million.
