ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) banking

In Germany, DRESDNER BANK and COMMERZBANK have announced that they were not to go through with their planned merger. Negotiations are said to have run up against a difference of views regarding the valuing of the two establishments. DRESDNER BANK had already attempted a rapprochement with DEUTSCHE BANK, plan that was also aborted. See EI of 21 June and 7 April.
