ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) distribution

The French CARRFOUR acquired the 72.5% in the Belgian distributor GB that it did not already own for a total of EUR 670 million, thus increasing its stake in the Belgian group to 100%. Leader in foodstuff distribution in Belgium, GB should have a consolidated before tax profit of around EUR 3 billion in 2000 with 490 shops and supermarkets in Belgium.
