25/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission approved the merger between the Anglo-Swedish agri-chemical giant Astra-Zeneca and the Swiss Novartis, on condition of fulfilling the undertakings made by the two firms in the sectors that preoccupied the Commission (herbicides for maize, fungicides for cereals, insecticides and anti-rodent, etc.).
