Defence of cultural value of the vine and call for caution regarding GMOs

Brussels, 17/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - Precautionary principle for consumer health, cultural value of vine products in EU countries, certification of non-transmissibility of disease and control of vine plants: such are the concerns covered by the Committee with the adoption, by 65 votes in favour and one abstention, of the opinion relating to the Commission proposal aimed at amending Directive 68/193/EEC on the marketing of material for vegetative propagation of the vine.
