The Italian operator TELECOM ITALIA concluded an agreement for the sale of 80% in ITALTEL (turnover close to USD 1 billion in 2000 with a workforce of 2,800 people), a telecommunications equipment supplier, to a group of investors lead by CLAYTON, DUBILIER & RICE and the American CISCO SYSTEMS for a total of EUR 800 million.
