Spain's TELEFÓNICA (telecommunications) has announced the acquisition of MEDIAWAYS (turnover of DEM 350 million expected in fiscal 1999-2000, ending in June), the internet subsidiary of the German group BERTELSMANN specialised in network and business services, for USD 1.6 billion.
