The British group MARCONI (telecommunications equipment and services) acquired the American company SMS - SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT (turnover of USD 112 million in 1999 with a workforce of 600 people), specialised in data storage centres and internet services for companies, for USD 113 million payable in shares.
