Brussels, 05/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the European Commission organised a conference on the management and overseeing of the Structural Fund Objective 1 assistance. The representative of local and regional authorities as well as European Institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council, Court of Auditors) took part in this conference aimed, according to Commissioner Barnier, informed local structures responsible for the management of programmes "of measures they must take, when taking into account their new responsibilities" that result from greater decentralisation, for the 2000-2006 period, the management of structural funds. A similar conference should be organised next year for the regions benefiting from Objective 2.
