ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) luxury goods

Italy's GUCCI has bought the jewelry, perfume and watch maker BOUCHERON INTERNATIONAL (estimated turnover of FRF 85 million for 2000) from the Swiss group SCHWEIZERHALL HOLDING. The amount of the acquisition was not revealed but, according to informed sources, is between FRF 1.5 and 2 billion. GUCCI has also announced the creation of a joint venture with FJ BENJAMIN HOLDINGS, in which it will be 65% owner, and which will be the exclusive distributor of "Gucci", "Yves Saint Laurent Couture"...
